La description de la Parole de Dieu est achevée. L'auteur s'élève à Dieu lui même.

C'est bien ainsi en effet que la Parole amène l'âme devant Dieu, où elle se trouve nue, découverte, dépouillée de tout, se jugeant elle-même comme Dieu la juge.

Ce Jugement de Dieu, auquel nul ne peut échapper, est un nouveau motif à l'appui de l'exhortation de Hébreux 4.11 ; car c'est pour nous amener à son repos que Dieu agit ainsi, et s'il y a résistance finale de la part de l'homme, le jugement intérieur par lequel Dieu voulait sauver l'âme se transforme en condamnation éternelle.

La plupart des versions portent : "Aux yeux de Celui à qui nous devons rendre compte." Il est plus conforme au grec de traduire : découvertes à ses yeux ; c'est à lui que nous devons rendre compte, ou, suivant une autre interprétation : "que nous avons affaire."

Cette dernière proposition renferme, en grec, un jeu de mots : le mot que nous traduisons par compte à rendre est le même que le mot parole.

Si nous n'obéissons pas quand Dieu nous parle, c'est nous qui aurons à parler à Dieu, quand il s'agira de nous justifier devant son tribunal.
