Cette réponse du fonctionnaire romain trahit quelque mépris pour le nom de Juif et signifie : Est-ce que je puis entendre la moindre chose à vos subtiles distinctions judaïques ?

Laissons cela, et puisque c'est ta nation et ses prêtres qui t'accusent, réponds nettement : qu'as-tu fait ? quel est ton crime ?
