La question des Juifs : Où est ton Père ? est une raillerie impie, car ils ne pouvaient pas ignorer que Jésus leur parlait de Dieu et de son témoignage qui est tout intérieur.

Le Sauveur se contente donc de leur déclarer qu'ils rejettent ce témoignage, parce qu'ils ne connaissent d'une manière vivante, ni son Père, ni lui-même, par qui seul Dieu se révèle.

S'ils le connaissaient, ils verraient qu'il n'est pas seul, (verset 16) ils reconnaîtraient le Père en lui. (Jean 14.9 ; Matthieu 11.27)
