Ces dernières paroles respirent encore le mépris pour Jésus et l'incrédulité au sujet de son origine et de sa parole. Ces hommes ne trouvent pas ses œuvres comparables aux majestueuses apparitions de Dieu sur les montagnes d'Horeb et de Sinaï, où il a parlé à Moïse.
