Le Liban : la frontière d'Israël au nord ; Basan le hauran actuel, au nord-est ; Abarim chaîne à laquelle appartient la montagne de Nébo, d'où Moïse contempla la Terre promise ; située au sud-est.

Le peuple de Jérusalem et de Juda, représenté sous la figure d'une femme en détresse, est invité à aller s'assurer sur ces sommets qu'aucun de ses anciens alliés (tous tes amants) ne vient à son secours.

L'état juif est décrit sous trois aspects : - Très hautain, en temps de paix et de sûreté. - Très craintif, lors de l'épreuve. - Vraiment passif, lors de la répression.

Le roi juif allait être méprisé, alors que tout semblait aller pour le mieux pour lui. Tous ceux en qui Dieu n'éprouve aucun plaisir, seront, un jour ou l'autre, ainsi humiliés : les hommes ne tireront aucune joie en leur compagnie. Si certains n'ont pas d'enfant, c'est le Seigneur qui en a décidé ainsi. Les personnes qui, dans leur vie, ne prêtent cherchent jamais à pratiquer le bien, ne pourront pas compter prospérer.

Nous pouvons voir à quel point la notoriété est fragile ici-bas, les familles qui en bénéficient doivent bien en prendre conscience !

Ceux qui entendent la voix de Christ, et qui Le suivent, ont la vie éternelle ; ils ne périront jamais, et aucun ennemi ne pourra les assujettir à sa puissance.
