Job réprimande ses amis. (Job 13:1-12)

Job, en toute sincérité, atteste devant Dieu qu'il n'aurait pas dû être blâmé de la sorte par ses amis. Les contestateurs sont souvent tentés de se vanter et d'abaisser leurs propres frères plus qu'il ne faudrait. Quand nous sommes abattus ou affligés, remplis d'une certaine colère, sous la pression de la tentation ou le poids de l'affliction, nous devrions nous adresser au Médecin de nos âmes, Celui qui ne rejette personne, qui ne prescrit jamais de mauvais traitements et qui guérit toujours la maladie. Nous pouvons Lui parler à tous moments. Pour traiter les cœurs brisés et les consciences meurtries, les créatures séparées de Christ sont dépourvues de tout médecin. Job, dans ses propos, est manifestement très fâché contre ses amis. Ces derniers ont avancé quelques vérités qui ont pu effectivement concerner Job ; un cœur qui ne s'est pas humilié devant Dieu, ne reçoit jamais facilement les réprimandes des hommes.

      9 who does great things that can't be fathomed, marvelous things without number;
      10 who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;
      11 so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.
      12 He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands can't perform their enterprise.

      18 He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt.
      19 He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
      20 He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.
      21 He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.
      22 He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.
      23 He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive.
      24 He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
      25 They grope in the dark without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man.
