Car. Dieu punit à bon droit cet impie, car il ne s'est jamais repenti et humilié. Il n'a jamais pris la résolution de changer.

Quand nous condamnons le mal, nous devons automatiquement mentionner le bien. Les amis de Job auraient pu considérer ce dernier comme vraiment mauvais. Élihu lui a simplement reproché d'avoir parlé un peu trop rapidement. Quand nous faisons des reproches, sachons ne pas rendre les faits pires qu'ils ne son ! Élihu invite Job à s'humilier devant Dieu, à cause de ses péchés, il l'invite aussi à accepter une éventuelle punition. Il incite le patriarche à demander que Dieu lui révèle ses péchés. Un homme sage doit savoir reconnaître en lui ses mauvais côtés ; en particulier, lors de l'épreuve, il doit discerner l'opinion que Dieu a à son égard.

Il ne suffit pas de regretter ses péchés, il faut de plus chercher à ne plus les pratiquer. Si nous sommes des enfants de Dieu qui aiment leur Père, nous aimerons parler avec Lui et lui confier tout notre cœur. Élihu raisonne Job, en l'invitant à ne pas se rebeller, suite à son affliction. Nous sommes souvent enclins à penser que chaque événement qui nous touche doit être une juste rétribution de notre conduite ; il n'est pas raisonnable, en fait, de penser ainsi. Élihu a demandé s'il n'y avait pas de folie et de péché dans les propos de Job. Dieu est la Droiture même, dans tous Ses actes, Psaume 145:17. Le croyant peut dire : mon Sauveur et mon Seigneur, dans Sa sagesse et Son amour, régit tout ce qui me concerne. J'ai l'assurance qu'Il est la Sagesse même ; qu'Il soit glorifié !
