World English Bible That in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Deux traits sont particuliers à Luc : c'est d'abord ce cœur honnête et bon, dans lequel ces derniers auditeurs reçoivent et retiennent la parole ; c'est ensuite cette persévérance (grec patience) avec laquelle ils portent du fruit.

Il ne faut pas soulever la question dogmatique de savoir si un homme peut, avant d'avoir entendu et reçu la parole divine, porter en lui un cœur honnête et bon.

Les hommes présentent, à des degrés très divers, des dispositions bonnes ou mauvaises à l'égard de la vérité.

D'ailleurs, la bonne terre qui produit du fruit a déjà subi une préparation par le labourage, l'engrais, etc. avant les semailles.

Ainsi il y a toute une œuvre prévenante de la grâce de Dieu qui éclaire une âme sur ses besoins, sa pauvreté, la rend humble, sincère, altérée de justice et de lumière, et la prépare pour le moment où l'Evangile lui sera annoncé.
