World English Bible You will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that my covenant may be with Levi," says Yahweh of Armies.

Afin que mon alliance avec Lévi subsiste. On traduit parfois : Afin que mon alliance soit avec Lévi... comme si Dieu, par ce châtiment, voulait préparer une nouvelle alliance qu'il traitera avec la tribu de Lévi. Mais la traduction admise nous parait plus conforme au texte ; le but du châtiment est de maintenir l'alliance spéciale faite jadis avec cette tribu, en empêchant qu'elle ne se rompe tout à fait par l'infidélité des sacrificateurs.

Avec Lévi. La tribu tout entière dont les sacrificateurs, descendants d'Aaron, sont les plus nobles représentants. Deutéronome 33.8-11.
