Les trois verbes : ils font la brèche, franchissent, sortent..., dépeignent vivement ce progrès irrésistible. L'exil est représenté comme une prison, dont il faut forcer les portes. Comparez Esaïe 42.22 ; 49.9. A leur tête, celui qui fait la brèche, qui ouvre le passage : dans l'image, le bélier qui marche à la tête du troupeau ; dans l'application, le chef dont parlait déjà Osée 1.11 et qui, nouveau Moïse, les fera sortir de la captivité (le Messie).Monte : le terme classique pour désigner le retour des pays de plaines (Egypte, Babylonie) en Canaan (comparez Abdias 1.21).Leur Roi... : l'Eternel (qui, dans l'image, est le berger ; comparez Jérémie 31.10). De même qu'à la sortie d'Egypte, Jéhova marchait, pour ainsi dire visible, devant Israël dans la nuée lumineuse (Exode 23.21), ce sera lui aussi qui maintenant ouvrira la marche. L'accomplissement de ce magnifique tableau, demeuré incomplet avec le retour de l'exil sous Cyrus, ne sera pleinement réalisé qu'avec la conversion d'Israël au Messie et le rassemblement de tous les membres épars de ce peuple.Quelques-uns ont voulu voir dans les versets 11 et 12 le discours des faux prophètes faisant au peuple de mensongères promesses de salut. Mais ces versets supposent précisément ce que les faux prophètes ne voulaient pas admettre : la ruine et la dispersion. L'idée du rassemblement du peuple entier ici énoncée est en revanche commune à toute la vraie prophétie et se retrouve développée par Michée lui-même, 4.6-7 ; 5.3-4.
