Que le juste ait faim, littéralement : Que l'âme du juste ait faim. L'âme est le siège des appétits naturels, tels que le besoin de nourriture. Le juste obtient de la bénédiction divine ce qui lui est nécessaire pour l'entretien de sa vie, car il ne demande pas davantage. Le méchant, dont les désirs sont désordonnés, voit son avidité punie. L'opposition est très nettement marquée.
