Proverbes 12.16

L’insensé laisse voir à l’instant son irritation, Mais celui qui cache un outrage est prudent.
Un fou manifeste immédiatement sa colère, mais celui qui couvre un affront est un homme prudent.
A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent.

Il faut savoir, quand on reçoit une injure, se posséder et ne pas ajouter encore au désagrément de la situation les conséquences graves qui pourraient résulter d'un emportement irréfléchi, ou le ridicule que ferait naître le spectacle du dépit que l'on éprouve. En montrant son mécontentement, on produit chez l'offenseur, une joie maligne.
