Le champ défriché. L'hébreu désigne une pièce de terre cultivée pour la première fois. Le pauvre n'a peut-être à son usage qu'un morceau de terrain inculte, dont personne n'avait voulu jusque là, ou qui, faute d'entretien, était devenu sauvage, et sur lequel il doit travailler longtemps pour le rendre propre à la culture. Le travail fidèle de ce pauvre est récompensé et procure son relèvement matériel, tandis qu'un homme beaucoup mieux fourni de biens terrestres déchoit faute de probité et de crainte de Dieu.
