Le faux témoin mourra, mais l’homme qui sait écouter aura toujours le droit de parler.

Pourra toujours parler. On saura bien vite ce que vaut la déposition du faux témoin et on ne lui demandera plus de venir témoigner en justice. L'homme qui écoute, au contraire, c'est-à-dire celui qui, avant de parler, a consulté sa conscience et s'est enquis autour de lui de tout ce qui pouvait l'éclairer, sera toujours écouté avec plaisir.

D'autres, au lieu de : pourra toujours parler, traduisent : parlera à perpétuité, c'est-à-dire de manière à obtenir la victoire ; son témoignage demeure à toujours.
