Il y a de la hardiesse des deux côtés ; mais d'une part c'est l'insensibilité du péché, de l'autre l'assurance de l'intégrité.

Il n'y a pas contradiction entre le second membre et 16.9, qui dit que c'est l'Eternel qui affermit les pas de l'homme : l'homme droit est celui que Dieu dirige.
