11 et 12 Au lieu de se laisser abattre par l'adversité (verset 10) il faut, au contraire, à l'occasion, prêter main forte aux autres et ne pas avancer des excuses que Dieu percerait à jour. Mais quand faut-il payer de sa personne pour délivrer des condamnés à mort ?

Toujours, disent plusieurs, c'est une règle générale ! Et ceci prouverait que la sagesse israélite en était venue à condamner la peine de mort. Mais voir 28.17.

Quand les condamnés sont innocents, pensons-nous. Ainsi les Anciens de Jizréel auraient dû s'opposer à la mort de Naboth. D'autres encore pensent à des prisonniers de guerre.
