Nous devons veiller à observer avec attention les préceptes divins. Il ne nous est pas dit uniquement : « garde mes commandements et tu vivras », mais aussi : « garde-les, comme quelque chose d'indispensable à la vie ».

Ceux qui reprochent à un cheminement strict et prudent, d'être inutile et trop astreignant, ne considèrent pas que les préceptes de l’Éternel doivent être gardés comme la prunelle des yeux : en effet, la loi du cœur est « l'œil » de l'âme. Que la parole de Dieu demeure en nous, elle a été écrite de façon à rester toujours accessible. Nous serons ainsi protégés des effets fatals de nos propres passions, et des pièges de Satan.

Que la parole de Dieu puisse vraiment nous inciter à redouter le péché, et nous faire prendre de solides résolutions à son encontre !
