O Dieu ! je te chanterai un cantique nouveau, Je te célébrerai sur le luth à dix cordes.
אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים שִׁ֣יר חָ֭דָשׁ אָשִׁ֣ירָה לָּ֑ךְ בְּנֵ֥בֶל עָ֝שׂ֗וֹר אֲזַמְּרָה־לָּֽךְ׃
O Dieu, je chanterai en ton honneur un cantique nouveau, je te célébrerai sur le luth à dix cordes.

Les bénédictions fraîches et spontanées conduisent à des remerciements du même type ; nous devons louer Dieu pour les miséricordes qu'Il nous a promises et pour celles qu'Il nous a déjà accordées par Sa providence. Être épargné par la maladie ou des persécutions sanglantes sans toutefois être débarrassé du péché et de la colère divine à venir, ne représente qu'un bien faible avantage. David désirait la postérité de son peuple, de même que les parents de ce monde désirent naturellement que leurs enfants pratiquent le bien. Ils ne veulent pas les voir sous l'aspect de mauvaises herbes qui se fanent, ou d'épines, mais comme des plantes qui croissent et qui produisent, en Dieu, du fruit. Ils désirent les voir grandir et forcir, en communion avec l'Esprit.

On recherche souvent l'abondance et on en remercie Dieu, on est généreux avec ses amis et charitables envers les pauvres, sinon quel avantage a-t-on à avoir ses greniers pleins ? Nous recherchons aussi la paix permanente. La guerre ne fait qu'apporter des dommages, quel que soit le côté où l'on se place. Le niveau de notre adoration et de notre service pour Dieu conditionne directement notre joie spirituelle. Les enfants de Dieu partagent les bénédictions et les victoires reçues, ils sont heureux, car ils possèdent le Seigneur dans leur cœur.

      1 Chroniques 25

      1 Moreover, David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals: and the number of those who did the work according to their service was:
      2 of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.
      3 Of Jeduthun; the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Yahweh.

      Psaumes 33

      2 Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.
