World English Bible Yahweh's precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. Yahweh's commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.

La loi, l'enseignement, l'instruction par excellence. Ce terme désigne la parole révélée, telle qu'elle existait alors.

Elle restaure l'âme. Le psalmiste a discerné l'esprit de sainteté et d'amour, qui est comme la sève de la loi ; il ne s'en tient pas, comme plus tard les pharisiens, à la lettre du commandement et à la forme des cérémonies.

Le témoignage de l'Eternel. C'est ici un nouveau nom de la loi, qui témoigne de la volonté de Dieu à l'égard de son peuple. L'arche qui contenait les tables de la loi était appelée l'arche du témoignage (Exode 25.22). Ce témoignage est sûr ; il émane du Dieu qui ne varie pas, et il porte en lui-même le cachet de l'autorité divine. Comparez Matthieu 7.29. Comme tel, il donne la sagesse à celui qui est simple de cœur, et non infatué de sa propre sagesse. Comparez Matthieu 11.25.
