Psaumes 62.1-12

Segond 21 Oui, les fils d’Adam ne sont qu’un souffle, les hommes ne sont que mensonge. S’ils montaient sur une balance, tous ensemble ils seraient plus légers qu’un souffle.

World English Bible Don't trust in oppression. Don't become vain in robbery. If riches increase, don't set your heart on them.

10 à 13 Néant de toute puissance humaine devant Dieu.

Fils du peuple, littéralement : fils d'hommes : bené adam, désignant le commun peuple, en opposition aux fils des grands (bené isch). Comparez Psaumes 4.3, note.

Mensonge. Leur grandeur, tout extérieure, trompe sur leur valeur réelle.

Ils montent : ils sont donc moins que rien. Cette pensée a été bien rendue par notre vieille version rimée :
Qui l'homme et le rien pèserait,
Par cette épreuve il trouverait
Que l'homme est plus léger encore.
