Psaumes 69.7

Que ceux qui espèrent en toi ne soient pas honteux à cause de moi, Seigneur, Eternel, maître de l’univers ! Que ceux qui te cherchent ne rougissent pas à cause de moi, Dieu d’Israël !
Car à cause de toi j'ai porté l'opprobre, la confusion a couvert mon visage.

A cause de moi. Tout pécheur qu'il est, il n'en représente pas moins la cause de Dieu ; c'est même pour cette cause qu'il souffre, et sa ruine porterait une grave atteinte à la foi de ceux qui cherchent Dieu.

Seigneur, Eternel des armées... Dieu d'Israël. Le psalmiste en appelle àDieu comme étant à la fois le maitre de l'univers et le roi d'Israël.
