Répands ta fureur... Que celle ardente jalousie se répande sur les païens, dont tu t'es servi jusqu'à présent pour frapper ton peuple. Le fait de ne pas connaître Dieu n'est point pour ceux-ci une excuse, car c'est là une ignorance coupable.

Ceux qui persistent à ignorer Dieu, à négliger la prière, ne sont que des impies. Les hommes ne font que ce que leur cœur désire et le Seigneur, dans Sa bonté, le tolère. Les délivrances, lors de l'épreuve, sont de véritables grâces lorsqu'elles sont fondées sur la rédemption du péché ; ayons donc plus de zèle dans nos prières, lorsque nous implorons le pardon de nos péchés, que lorsque nous crions pour nos afflictions. Le peuple n'a eu d'autre espérance que la grâce divine. Il n'a pas avancé un quelconque mérite, ni prétendu à quoi que ce soit; il a simplement demandé Son aide, pour Sa gloire ; il a demandé Le pardon, en Son nom. Le chrétien n'oublie pas qu'il est souvent retenu dans les chaînes du péché.

Le monde est pour lui une prison ; il est sous le verdict d'une sentence de mort qui est en passe d'être exécutée. Cela nous montre à quel point notre prière doit être fervente, à quel point l'on doit s'approcher de Jésus, tels des prisonniers, pour pouvoir bénéficier de Sa grande puissance et nous préserver ainsi de la mort ! Quel jour glorieux l'église vivra lorsqu'elle contemplera l'adversaire désarmé à jamais ! Elle pourra alors adresser des louanges éternelles à son Grand Berger, à son Roi, à son Dieu.

      13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people was not. The Assyrians founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin.
      14 Howl, you ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste!
      15 It will come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. After the end of seventy years it will be to Tyre like in the song of the prostitute.
      16 Take a harp; go about the city, you prostitute that has been forgotten. Make sweet melody. Sing many songs, that you may be remembered.
      17 It will happen after the end of seventy years that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her wages, and will play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth.
      18 Her merchandise and her wages will be holiness to Yahweh. It will not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

      26 and I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants; and afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, says Yahweh.
      27 But don't you be afraid, Jacob my servant, neither be dismayed, Israel: for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
      28 Don't you be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh; for I am with you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you; but I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.
