1 à 3 La grande délivrance récente.

Psaume. C'est ici le seul cas, dans tout le psautier, où ce mot figure dans un titre sans aucune détermination plus spéciale.

L'ont délivré. Cette parole est un écho d'Esaïe 63.2-5, qui montre l'Eternel agissant par sa seule puissance, pour délivrer son peuple de tous ses ennemis : J'ai regardé ; personne pour m'aider !... Mais mon bras m'a sauvé, et c'est ma fureur qui m'a soutenu.

La gloire du Rédempteur. (Psaumes 98:1-3)
La joie du racheté. (Psaumes 98:4-9)

Ce chant de louanges qui souligne l'amour des rachetés, est un cantique nouveau, un mystère caché d'âge en âge, pendant des générations. Les convertis chantent un chant nouveau, complètement différent de ce qui a été chanté auparavant.

Si la Grâce de Dieu renouvelle notre cœur, elle mettra un chant nouveau dans nos bouches. Que ce cantique nouveau soit chanté pour louer Dieu, en considération des merveilles qu'Il a faites. Le Rédempteur a vaincu toutes les difficultés rencontrées dans le chemin de notre rachat, Il n'a pas été découragé par la grandeur de la tâche à accomplir, ni par les souffrances qu'Il savait devoir endurer. Louons-Le pour l'œuvre initiale rédemptrice effectuée ; Son salut et Sa droiture ont accompli les prophéties et les promesses de l'Ancien Testament.

En poursuivant ce plan, Dieu à élevé son Fils, Jésus, pour être non seulement la Lumière du monde, mais aussi la Gloire du peuple d'Israël. Il nous incite à nous demander si Son bras de sainteté a remporté la victoire dans notre cœur, sur la puissance de Satan, sur l'incrédulité et sur le péché. Si cela a été réellement notre cas, nous pouvons changer tous nos chants de vanité contre des chants de joie et de reconnaissance ; que nos vies célèbrent et louent le Rédempteur !
