14 à 18 Après avoir terminé ce second tableau du jugement, qui atteindra les pécheurs, le prophète reprend et développe la pensée exprimée au verset 7 : la journée de l'Eternel sera terrible.

Cet avertissement, relatif à la destruction imminente qui va avoir lieu au Jour de l’Éternel, devrait faire trembler les pécheurs dans Sion ; au Jour de l'Éternel, Dieu se révélera Lui-même, en punissant tous ces impies.

Ce Jour du Seigneur est très proche, c'est le Jour de la colère de Dieu, où Sa fureur sera à son comble. Il s’agira d’un jour de détresse et de violence, pour les pécheurs. Ces derniers ne devraient pas négliger cette patience divine !

Que sert-il à un homme de gagner tout le monde, s'il perd son âme, (Marc 8:36 ?)* Que donnerait un homme en échange de son âme ? Fuyons la colère à venir et choisissons la bonne part, celle qui ne nous sera jamais retirée, afin d'être « parés » pour chaque événement à venir ! Rien ne peut nous séparer de l'amour de Dieu, en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur !
