Les noms des idoles. Dieu détruira jusqu'au souvenir du culte des faux dieux. Lors même que, depuis le retour de l'exil, Israël paraissait guéri du penchant à l'idolâtrie, le danger existait, toujours. Comparez, ce qui se passa au temps d'Esdras (Esdras 9.11-14) et Néhémie 12.23-27.

Les prophètes. Ici, d'après les versets suivants, les faux prophètes. Ils avaient, avant l'exil, formé comme une caste à part, qui séduisait le peuple et paralysait, par des promesses mensongères, les avertissements des vrais prophètes. Ces séducteurs n'existeront plus, du moins sous cette forme.

L'esprit d'impureté : le souffle de mensonge qui les inspirait (comparez 1Rois 22.21-23).
