6 à 13 C'est ici l'application des trois visions précédentes plus spécialement des versets 6 à 9 de la 2ième, et des versets 10 à 13 de la 3ième.

Le discours, à la première personne, est mis dans la bouche de l'Eternel lui-même ; mais quand la troisième personne apparaît (verset 8 : Il m'a envoyé ; verset 9 : Vous saurez que l'Eternel m'a envoyé), les paroles sont attribuées à l'ange de l'Eternel.

Holà ! fuyez. Exclamation propre à faire sentir que quelque chose de grave se prépare. Cet appel s'adresse aux Juifs restés en Babylonie, pour les engager à venir rejoindre ceux qui déjà sont rentrés dans la patrie.

Du septentrion : de Babylone (verset 7). Sans doute cette ville était à l'est de la Terre Sainte, mais, pour éviter le désert oriental, on s'y rendait par la route du nord, en passant par Damas.

Je vous ai dispersés. Plusieurs entendent ce mot dans un sens favorable, en faisant de ce verbe un parfait prophétique : Je vous répandrai. Mais ce sens est forcé, car ceci s'applique plutôt à la dispersion de l'exil.

Comme les quatre vents... L'on ne peut traduire, comme plusieurs : Aux quatre vents des cieux ; le sens est plutôt : Comme les quatre vents dispersent, soit la poussière, soit la balle sur l'aire, soit les feuilles, ainsi le peuple avait été violemment dispersé quand la colère de Dieu l'avait envoyé en exil.

Si Dieu bâtit Jérusalem pour que Son peuple y demeure en toute sécurité, Il doit plus tard l'habiter, et Sa Gloire y règnera à jamais !

Les promesses et les privilèges dont le peuple de Dieu jouira, devraient nous engager à nous joindre à Lui, sous « la bannière de Christ, » quelle que soit la difficulté à y entrer, par la « porte étroite. » Alors que Sion allait être enfin rebâtie pour accueillir tout Israël, il devenait complètement absurde de rester en captivité à Babylone. Avec la perspective du salut en Jésus-Christ, la captivité du péché ne peut en aucune manière continuer, même si un homme semble à l'aise en cette situation ici-bas.

Fuis pour ta vie, ne regarde pas derrière toi ! Christ, par Son sacrifice, a proclamé cette délivrance aux captifs du péché ; Il a tout accompli, et c'est l'affaire de chacun d’accepter Son offre du salut, afin que le péché ne le domine plus. Ceux qui désirent faire partie des enfants de Dieu, doivent se considérer comme « étrangers » en ce monde, cf. Actes 2:40.

Ce qu'accomplit Christ pour son église devrait nous être une preuve évidente de l'attention et de l'affection de Dieu à l’égard des Siens ! Celui qui touche l’un de Ses enfants, touche la prunelle de Son œil. C’est l’expression puissante de l'Amour du Seigneur pour Son église. La moindre offense adressée contre l’église touche la partie la plus sensible de Son œil. Christ est envoyé pour être le Protecteur de Son église !
