Le prophète passe des nations aux individus. Par cette image : saisiront le pan de la robe d'un Juif, qui se lie à la précédente, celle du pèlerinage à Jérusalem, le prophète veut représenter la faim et la soif spirituelles des païens convertis, et la richesse de grâces et de lumières dont seront remplis les Juifs pour répondre à ces besoins. Comment ne pas penser ici à ce que dit l'apôtre saint Paul de l'effet que produira, dans le monde des Gentils, la conversion d'Israël ? Ce sera, dit-il, comme une résurrection d'entre les morts ; la chrétienté tout entière reprendra une nouvelle vie à ce contact avec Israël redevenu le peuple de Dieu (Romains 11.12).
