Pas de présents. Il résulte de ces mots que le reste du peuple lui offrit des dons spontanés et qu'ainsi commença à se réaliser la parole de 1Samuel 9.20.

Il fit le sourd. Avec un léger changement de lettres ces mots peuvent signifier : Et dans le temps des labours. Il faudrait dans ce cas les lier au premier verset du chapitre suivant ; ils s'accorderaient bien avec le verset 5, mais non avec 12.17 ; car il ne peut pas s'être écoulé trois ou quatre mois entre le commencement et la fin de cette guerre.
