L'Eternel appela Samuel. Cette voix n'était pas audible, car Eli l'aurait entendue. Mais d'autre part tout le ministère de Samuel prouve qu'elle n'était pas purement subjective, comme dans un cas d'hallucination. Elle était réellement divine, quoique intérieure. Toute révélation de Dieu suppose chez celui qui en est l'objet un organe propre à la recevoir.
