Placez l'arche sainte dans la maison. Ces mots supposent évidemment que l'arche avait été sortie du temple. Par qui ? pourquoi ? Nous l'ignorons. Peut-être par Manassé ou par Amon, ou bien par des sacrificateurs qui l'auraient éloignée pendant ces deux règnes pour éviter les profanations (33.7).

Vous n'avez plus à la porter. D'après 1Chroniques 15.2, cette fonction leur incombait, mais seulement jusqu'au moment où l'arche serait arrivée en son lieu de repos (1Chroniques 16.1 ; 2Chroniques 5.7 et suivants ; Psaumes 132.8). Il semble d'après notre verset que, l'arche n'étant plus dans le sanctuaire, on avait pris l'habitude de la transporter en divers lieux, comme dans le temps des Juges.
