2 Corinthiens 3.12

Ayant donc une telle espérance, nous usons d'une grande hardiesse de parler.
Cette espérance nous remplit de hardiesse : nous agissons avec assurance, parlant ouvertement et sans réserve.

12 à 18 De la sainteté de ce ministère.

Cette espérance, cette confiance, qui remplit le cœur de l'apôtre, il la puise dans les pensées exprimées à versets 6-8, et il en conclut la parfaite liberté du ministère évangélique. Le mot grec signifie à la fois la liberté de parler et une sainte hardiesse. (Actes 4.29)

Pour indiquer mieux encore la source de cette liberté, Paul reprend, sous une autre face, le symbole qu'il a déjà développé, (versets 7-11) et l'oppose à la pleine manifestation de la gloire de Dieu dans l'Evangile. (versets 13-18)

Les serviteurs de Dieu, au service de l'Évangile, doivent tenir des propos clairs et simples.

Les croyants de « l'ancienne alliance », ne pouvant lire que l’Ancien Testament, n'avaient que peu de passages pour entrevoir la gloire du Sauveur ; les incrédules n'ont d’ailleurs pas cherché à approfondir les textes disponibles à l’époque... Mais les grands préceptes de l'Évangile, comme « croire », « aimer », ou « obéir », y sont annoncés et affirmés aussi clairement que possible. L’Évangile expose au mieux la doctrine entière de Christ crucifié.

Ceux qui vivaient sous la loi, avaient un voile sur leur cœur. Ce voile est désormais ôté, par la doctrine de la Bible, relative à Christ. Quand une personne se convertit à Dieu, ce « voile d'ignorance » est enlevé. Le bonheur caractérise ceux qui croient et qui aiment l'Évangile : leur cœur est libre pour découvrir les voies et les commandements divins. Ils possèdent la Lumière, et c'est le visage épanoui, qu'ils célèbrent la gloire du Seigneur.

Les chrétiens devraient rechercher et exploiter ces privilèges ! Nous ne devrions pas nous contenter de notre simple état actuel, sans connaître le pouvoir de transformation de l'Évangile, par l’œuvre de l'Esprit, qui nous exhorte à ressembler à notre glorieux Seigneur et Sauveur Jésus-Christ, dans une réelle communion avec Lui. Nous discernons Christ dans le « miroir » de Sa Parole ; comme le reflet d'une glace fait briller un visage, ceux des chrétiens rayonnent également !
