"Un peu" il faut avouer que c'est pas grand chose. N'avons-nous pas tendance à mettre souvent l'accent sur le "beaucoup" …

L'un des trois guerriers, non pas des trois principaux énumérés ici (versets 8 à 12). Il s'agit de trois guerriers dont un seul est nommé et qui, dans cette circonstance, se trouvaient avec David à la tête des troupes.

Lorsqu'ils défièrent. Les Chroniques lisent, au lieu des mots ainsi traduits, le nom de lieu : Ephès-Dammim. Le mot là dans ce qui suit favorise cette leçon. Ephès-Dammim (1Samuel 17.1) était l'endroit où les Philistins, par la bouche de Goliath, avaient défié les Israélites. D'après le texte de Samuel, les Israélites leur auraient en ce moment rendu la pareille.

Gagnaient les hauteurs ; dans 1Chroniques 11.13 : s'enfuyaient. Le sens est qu'ils se retiraient, de la plaine sur les hauteurs situées derrière eux. Mais comment pouvaient-ils agir ainsi après avoir eux-mêmes défié l'ennemi ? Le récit est obscur ; peut-être le texte est-il corrompu.
