J'ébranlerai toutes les nations. Comme l'empire perse vient de renverser celui de Babylone, il sera renversé lui-même pour faire place à d'autres, et il en sera ainsi jusqu'à la destruction totale de la puissance terrestre elle-même, qui fera enfin place au règne de Dieu. Cette petite colonie de Juifs, avec son temple rebâti, ce point en quelque sorte imperceptible, devient en revanche dans le plan de Dieu le centre de la régénération universelle.

Les trésors de toutes les nations : à mesure qu'elles se convertiront au règne de Dieu, dont l'établissement partira de ce temple même, elles consacreront leurs richesses à l'Eternel.

Je remplirai cette maison de gloire. Cet édifice que les Juifs commencent à élever, ce rien à leurs yeux, en devenant le foyer de l'œuvre divine qui va s'accomplir, se trouvera être plus glorieux que le temple extérieurement magnifique qu'ils regrettent. Dans cette perspective de gloire spirituelle se réunissent : la venue du Messie, la réconciliation en lui des cieux et de la terre, la fondation et l'extension de l'Eglise, l'établissement du royaume de Dieu chez tous les peuples par la prédication de l'Evangile, la rénovation morale et physique de l'univers.
