Ainsi, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, n’accomplit rien sans avoir d’abord révélé ses plans à ses serviteurs, les prophètes.

Car le Seigneur ne fait rien... Dieu a une œuvre sur la terre, pour l'accomplissement de laquelle il se sert d'agents humains ; mais ces agents, il ne les traite pas en vils esclaves ; il se confie à eux comme à des amis (comparez Jean 15.15). Il les associe à l'avance à ses desseins, afin qu'ils puissent y concourir d'une manière intelligente et libre. C'est là la vraie notion de la révélation, qui n'est pas une communication de dogmes nouveaux, mais l'initiation des hommes de Dieu au plan divin à réaliser. Comparez Genèse 18.17-19.
