Grec : Je devins en esprit, en un état d'extase prophétique, où toutes les facultés de l'âme, momentanément dégagées de leurs entraves, entrent dans un rapport plus intime avec Dieu et avec le monde invisible. La foi devient alors une vision, le croyant un voyant. (Comparer Actes 10.10 ; 11.5 ; 22.17 ; 2Corinthiens 12.2)

Ou le dimanche. Le mot français dimanche a étymologiquement la même signification (dies dominica). Ce jour, ainsi nommé à cause de la résurrection du Seigneur, eut une grande importance aux yeux des chrétiens, dès les temps apostoliques (il est aussi mentionné dans Actes 20.7 ; 1Corinthiens 16.2) ; ils pensaient que le retour de Christ et la résurrection des morts auraient lieu ce jour-là. Consacré spécialement à la méditation, ce saint jour était bien propre aux grandes manifestations dont l'apôtre va être le témoin. D'après Beck, le sens serait : Je fus transporté en esprit au jour du Seigneur, c'est-à-dire au moment du retour de Christ, (1Corinthiens 1.8) pour contempler en esprit ce grand événement.

La trompette servait à convoquer les Israélites aux assemblées. (Nombres 10.2,10 ; Joël 2.1,15 ; Exode 19.16 ; 20.18 ; Hébreux 12.19) Souvent elle est mentionnée comme devant annoncer quelque solennelle apparition divine, en particulier le retour de Christ dans sa gloire. (Matthieu 24.31 ; 1Corinthiens 15.52 ; 1Thessaloniciens 4.16) Elle est pour Jean le signal de la révélation qu'il va recevoir.
