כְּתַפּ֙וּחַ֙ בַּעֲצֵ֣י הַיַּ֔עַר כֵּ֥ן דּוֹדִ֖י בֵּ֣ין הַבָּנִ֑ים בְּצִלּוֹ֙ חִמַּ֣דְתִּי וְיָשַׁ֔בְתִּי וּפִרְי֖וֹ מָת֥וֹק לְחִכִּֽי׃
Un pommier parmi les arbres du bois, voilà mon bien-aimé parmi les autres garçons ! A son ombre, j’ai plaisir à m’asseoir et je trouve à ses fruits un goût délicieux.

Sulammith relève la balle, mais pour la faire tourner à l'honneur de son bien-aimé.

Un pommier : rien de plus ravissant qu'un pommier dans sa parure printanière, qui le distingue de tous les arbres de la forêt.

Son fruit est doux : le pommier de Syrie et de Palestine donne un fruit exquis et parfumé ; dans Joël 1.12, il est mis au rang des plus excellents arbres fruitiers.

J'ai pris plaisir : elle croit sentir son bien-aimé près d'elle et jouir de sa présence.
