Un arbre à fruits au milieu de la forêt, voilà celui que j’aime parmi les jeunes hommes. J’ai voulu m’asseoir à son ombre, et ses fruits sont doux à ma bouche.

World English Bible As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, his fruit was sweet to my taste.

Sulammith relève la balle, mais pour la faire tourner à l'honneur de son bien-aimé.

Un pommier : rien de plus ravissant qu'un pommier dans sa parure printanière, qui le distingue de tous les arbres de la forêt.

Son fruit est doux : le pommier de Syrie et de Palestine donne un fruit exquis et parfumé ; dans Joël 1.12, il est mis au rang des plus excellents arbres fruitiers.

J'ai pris plaisir : elle croit sentir son bien-aimé près d'elle et jouir de sa présence.
