Ces mots : qui est Christ en vous, doivent se rapporter à toute la phrase qui précède : la richesse de la gloire de ce mystère, c'est Christ en vous ; Christ, sa personne, son œuvre, c'est là tout l'Evangile.

Les mots rendus par en vous peuvent signifier aussi parmi vous, c'est-à-dire, comme l'apôtre vient de l'exprimer, parmi les païens. Mais la pensée est plus complète, plus profonde, et évite une répétition en traduisant en vous. (Comparer Ephésiens 3.17 ; Galates 2.20)

D'ailleurs, ce n'est réellement que quand Christ vit en nous, qu'il est pour nous l'espérance de la gloire. (Comparer Colossiens 3.3,4)

- La condition glorieuse, décrite par ces paroles, fait avec l'état précédent des païens un contraste dont l'apôtre est saisi : ils étaient "sans Christ, n'ayant point d'espérance ;" (Ephésiens 2.12) maintenant, Christ en eux est pour eux l'espérance de la gloire ! (Comparer 1Timothée 1.1 ; Romains 5.2)
