"At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who shall be found written in the book.
2
Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3
Those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the expanse; and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.
4
But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run back and forth, and knowledge shall be increased."

Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on the river bank on this side, and the other on the river bank on that side.

One said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7
I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by him who lives forever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8
I heard, but I didn't understand: then I said, my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?
9
He said, Go your way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.
10
Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but those who are wise shall understand.
11
From the time that the continual burnt offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred ninety days.
12
Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred thirty-five days.
13
But go you your way until the end; for you shall rest, and shall stand in your lot, at the end of the days.

L’ange me dit encore : « À ce moment-là, Michel, le chef des anges qui protège ton peuple, paraîtra. Ce sera un temps de grande souffrance. Depuis que les nations existent et jusqu’à ce moment-là, il n’y a jamais eu un temps semblable. Alors tous ceux de ton peuple qui ont leur nom écrit dans le livre de Dieu seront sauvés.

Beaucoup de gens qui dorment dans la poussière de la tombe se réveilleront : les uns afin de vivre avec Dieu pour toujours, les autres afin de vivre dans la honte et le malheur pour toujours.

Les gens intelligents brilleront comme le ciel de lumière au-dessus de nos têtes. Ils ont montré aux autres comment être fidèles à Dieu et ils brilleront pour toujours comme les étoiles.

« Daniel, ces paroles sont un secret. Ne fais pas connaître ce livre avant le moment de la fin. À ce moment-là, beaucoup de gens le liront, et leur connaissance grandira. »

Pendant que moi, Daniel, je regarde cette vision, deux autres hommes apparaissent, debout, de chaque côté du fleuve. L’homme qui porte des habits de lin se tient au-dessus de l’eau du fleuve.

L’un des deux hommes lui demande : « À quel moment ces faits extraordinaires s’arrêteront-ils ? »

L’homme vêtu d’habits de lin lève les deux mains vers le ciel et je l’entends dire : « Je le jure, au nom du Dieu qui vit pour toujours, ces faits dureront trois ans et demi. Ils s’arrêteront quand la force du peuple de Dieu sera complètement détruite. »

Moi, Daniel, j’entends ces paroles, mais je ne les comprends pas. Alors je demande : « Mon seigneur, comment tout cela finira-t-il ? »

Il me répond : « Va en paix, Daniel. Ces paroles doivent rester totalement cachées jusqu’au moment de la fin.
10
Beaucoup de gens seront purifiés, préparés, lavés par les souffrances. Les gens mauvais ne pourront pas comprendre et continueront à faire le mal. Mais les gens intelligents comprendront ce qui arrive.
11
À partir du moment où on ne pourra plus offrir à Dieu le sacrifice de chaque jour et où l’horreur destructrice sera placée sur l’autel, il y aura 1 290 jours.
12
Ils seront heureux, ceux qui réussiront à attendre 1 335 jours !
13
Et toi, Daniel, reste fidèle jusqu’au bout ! Alors tu pourras te reposer, puis tu te relèveras pour recevoir ta récompense à la fin des temps. »

וְרַבִּ֕ים מִיְּשֵׁנֵ֥י אַדְמַת־עָפָ֖ר יָקִ֑יצוּ אֵ֚לֶּה לְחַיֵּ֣י עוֹלָ֔ם וְאֵ֥לֶּה לַחֲרָפ֖וֹת לְדִרְא֥וֹן עוֹלָֽם׃

וְהַ֨מַּשְׂכִּלִ֔ים יַזְהִ֖רוּ כְּזֹ֣הַר הָרָקִ֑יעַ וּמַצְדִּיקֵי֙ הָֽרַבִּ֔ים כַּכּוֹכָבִ֖ים לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃
4
וְאַתָּ֣ה דָֽנִיֵּ֗אל סְתֹ֧ם הַדְּבָרִ֛ים וַחֲתֹ֥ם הַסֵּ֖פֶר עַד־עֵ֣ת קֵ֑ץ יְשֹׁטְט֥וּ רַבִּ֖ים וְתִרְבֶּ֥ה הַדָּֽעַת׃

וְרָאִ֙יתִי֙ אֲנִ֣י דָנִיֵּ֔אל וְהִנֵּ֛ה שְׁנַ֥יִם אֲחֵרִ֖ים עֹמְדִ֑ים אֶחָ֥ד הֵ֙נָּה֙ לִשְׂפַ֣ת הַיְאֹ֔ר וְאֶחָ֥ד הֵ֖נָּה לִשְׂפַ֥ת הַיְאֹֽר׃

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לָאִישׁ֙ לְב֣וּשׁ הַבַּדִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִמַּ֖עַל לְמֵימֵ֣י הַיְאֹ֑ר עַד־מָתַ֖י קֵ֥ץ הַפְּלָאֽוֹת׃

וָאֶשְׁמַ֞ע אֶת־הָאִ֣ישׁ ׀ לְב֣וּשׁ הַבַּדִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר מִמַּעַל֮ לְמֵימֵ֣י הַיְאֹר֒ וַיָּ֨רֶם יְמִינ֤וֹ וּשְׂמֹאלוֹ֙ אֶל־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע בְּחֵ֣י הָעוֹלָ֑ם כִּי֩ לְמוֹעֵ֨ד מֽוֹעֲדִ֜ים וָחֵ֗צִי וּכְכַלּ֛וֹת נַפֵּ֥ץ יַד־עַם־קֹ֖דֶשׁ תִּכְלֶ֥ינָה כָל־אֵֽלֶּה׃

וַאֲנִ֥י שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אָבִ֑ין וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה אֲדֹנִ֕י מָ֥ה אַחֲרִ֖ית אֵֽלֶּה׃
9
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לֵ֣ךְ דָּנִיֵּ֑אל כִּֽי־סְתֻמִ֧ים וַחֲתֻמִ֛ים הַדְּבָרִ֖ים עַד־עֵ֥ת קֵֽץ׃
10
יִ֠תְבָּֽרֲרוּ וְיִֽתְלַבְּנ֤וּ וְיִצָּֽרְפוּ֙ רַבִּ֔ים וְהִרְשִׁ֣יעוּ רְשָׁעִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א יָבִ֖ינוּ כָּל־רְשָׁעִ֑ים וְהַמַּשְׂכִּלִ֖ים יָבִֽינוּ׃
11
וּמֵעֵת֙ הוּסַ֣ר הַתָּמִ֔יד וְלָתֵ֖ת שִׁקּ֣וּץ שֹׁמֵ֑ם יָמִ֕ים אֶ֖לֶף מָאתַ֥יִם וְתִשְׁעִֽים׃
12
אַשְׁרֵ֥י הַֽמְחַכֶּ֖ה וְיַגִּ֑יעַ לְיָמִ֕ים אֶ֕לֶף שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃
13
וְאַתָּ֖ה לֵ֣ךְ לַקֵּ֑ץ וְתָנ֛וּחַ וְתַעֲמֹ֥ד לְגֹרָלְךָ֖ לְקֵ֥ץ הַיָּמִֽין׃

Va, Daniel ; ce qui signifie : Pour le moment, retourne à tes affaires. La réponse à cette question est déjà consignée dans ce livre que tu as roulé et scellé (verset 4). Et elle se rapporte à un temps très éloigné qui ne rentre nullement dans l'horizon de ta propre vie.
