Il s'agit ici de la tristesse où plonge le spectacle des vanités et des maux de cette vie, y compris le péché (verset 5). Malheur à qui cherche à s'étourdir par de bruyants plaisirs ! Sans doute, à prêter aux maux d'ici-bas l'attention qu'ils méritent, on peut prendre mauvais visage (Néhémie 2.2), mais le cœur, et c'est là l'important, est dans le vrai et dans des dispositions salutaires.
