"La diversité des grâces et des dons dans l'Eglise contribue à son unité. Ce n'est pas le mérite qui en règle la distribution, mais la volonté de Dieu et le dessein qu'a Jésus-Christ sur chaque membre de son corps, pour l'employer à ce qu'il lui plaira. Le devoir et le bien de chacun est d'être content de sa mesure, de ne se point élever, de se laisser appliquer, de recevoir sans vanité et de communiquer sans envie ce qui est donné par le Chef." Un don particulier de la Grâce est accordé à tous les croyants, en vue de leur aide mutuelle. Tout est donné selon ce qui semble le plus opportun à Christ d’accorder à chacun : Il a reçu pour eux une large mesure de dons et de grâces, afin de pouvoir leur donner le « don de l’Esprit ». Il ne s’agit pas d’une simple connaissance intellectuelle, ou de la reconnaissance que Christ est le Fils de Dieu, mais d’une action qui apporte la confiance et l'obéissance.

Nous trouverons toute plénitude en Christ ; une « mesure » en est délivrée à chaque croyant, selon la Volonté divine ; nous ne parviendrons jamais à connaître complètement cette plénitude, tant que nous ne serons pas montés au ciel, en présence du Seigneur !

Les enfants de Dieu croissent spirituellement, aussi longtemps qu'ils sont ici-bas ; cette croissance a pour but de promouvoir la gloire de Christ. Plus un homme cherche à grandir dans la connaissance du Seigneur, là où il est placé, selon la mesure qu’il a reçue, pour le bien des autres, plus il peut croire avec certitude qu'il dispose d'un amour et d’une charité sincères, enracinés en son cœur !
