Μηδεὶς ὑμᾶς ἀπατάτω κενοῖς λόγοις, διὰ ταῦτα γὰρ ἔρχεται ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῆς ἀπειθείας.

Ephésiens 5.1-33

Les vains discours, paroles vides, contre lesquelles l'apôtre met en garde ses lecteurs, ne sont pas seulement les discours mauvais qu'il vient d'interdire (Ephésiens 4.29 et suivants ; Ephésiens 5.3 et suivants) ; mais aussi et surtout les vains sophismes par lesquels on voudrait persuader à soi-même et aux autres que Dieu ne punit pas, que sa colère ne vient pas sur les péchés dont il est ici question. (Ephésiens 5.6)
