World English Bible He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Yahweh has ordered the destruction of Canaan's strongholds.

Il : l'Eternel.

A étendu sa main sur la mer : pour frapper la forteresse de la mer. Comparez Exode 14.21.

Les royaumes, celui d'Egypte, par exemple (verset 5), comprennent, en voyant le sort de Tyr, celui qui les attend eux-mêmes.

Canaan. Comparez Genèse 10.19. Ce terme désignait non seulement le pays occupé par les Israélites, mais aussi la Phénicie. Les Juifs appelaient ordinairement les Phéniciens Cananéens, nom qui signifie marchands. Le jugement qui frappe Tyr s'étend à toute la Phénicie.
