Comme nous nous trouvons en ce moment à la seconde année de Cyrus, qui a régné seul sept ans, cela fait cinq ans pour lui. Cambyse en a régné sept et demi ; Smerdis le Mage n'a occupé le trône que sept mois. Pour Darius I, fils de Hystaspe, comptons un an d'après verset 24. Nous arrivons ainsi à une interruption d'à peu près quatorze ou quinze ans.Les ennemis. Ils sont appelés ainsi par anticipation, car ils ne s'étaient pas encore manifestés comme tels et leur démarche n'était point un piège. Leur hostilité prit naissance dans le refus qu'ils essuyèrent.
