Et le peuple crut. Quels qu'aient été plus tard les manques de foi des Israélites, c'est par la foi qu'ils commencent. Ce premier acte de foi est un fait capital dans leur histoire comme dans celle de tous les hommes de Dieu. Abraham, Pierre, les autres apôtres ont souvent faibli et douté ; mais leur point de départ était un acte de foi : Nous avons tout quitté et nous t'avons suivi.
