Ezéchiel 22.25

Il y a une conjuration de ses prophètes au milieu d'elle, comme un lion rugissant qui déchire la proie ; ils dévorent les âmes, ils enlèvent les richesses et les choses précieuses ; ils multiplient ses veuves au milieu d'elle.

World English Bible There is a conspiracy of her prophets in its midst, like a roaring lion ravening the prey: they have devoured souls; they take treasure and precious things; they have made her widows many in its midst.

Ses prophètes. On a pensé que, comme les prophètes sont mentionnés au verset 28, il fallait corriger le texte et changer le nom de prophètes (neviim) en celui de princes (nesiim), et l'on s'est appuyé sur le fait que les LXX ont déjà traduit : les chefs. Ce changement ne nous paraît pas nécessaire ; l'image de lions rugissants convient encore mieux aux prophètes qui haranguent le peuple, qu'aux princes. La ligue qu'ils ont formée rappelle la conduite des faux prophètes envers Jérémie.

Ils dévorent les âmes : en les entraînant au mal. Ils s'enrichissent en flattant ceux qui sont au pouvoir.

Ils font abonder les veuves : en poussant aux fausses mesures qui attirent la destruction sur le peuple ; Jérémie 14.16.

      27 Her princes in its midst are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, [and] to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.
      28 Her prophets have plastered for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying, Thus says the Lord Yahweh, when Yahweh has not spoken.
      29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery; yes, they have troubled the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.
