Sortait du sein des mers. En arrivant à Tyr, on voyait l'île et la ville comme surgir du sein des eaux.

Qui inspiraient la terreur. La grande cité marchande avec ses conseils et ses flottes était ce que furent plus tard les républiques de Venise ou de Gênes : tous les peuples de la Méditerranée respectaient le moindre de ses citoyens.
