Ton cœur est devenu orgueilleux à cause de ta beauté. Ta brillante réussite t’a fait perdre la tête. C’est pourquoi je te jette par terre et je te présente ainsi aux autres rois.

A cause de ta beauté. Les dons de Dieu, dès que nous nous en servons pour nous glorifier nous-mêmes, deviennent l'instrument d'une chute proportionnée à leur grandeur.

Tu as perverti ta sagesse. Elle n'a plus été que le moyen de satisfaire son orgueil et s'est faussée par cette direction égoïste.

Précipité par terre : banni du trône et de la divine montagne (versets 2 et 16), sur lesquels Dieu l'avait placé. Comparez Esaïe 14.12.
