Le langage que Gog se tenait d'abord à lui-même (verset 11) semble dans ce verset se transformer en celui de Dieu qui l'engage à ne plus tarder à satisfaire sa convoitise ; car l'heure est venue où Dieu veut juger les Gentils.

Au beau milieu de la terre. Le milieu de la terre est supposé devoir être sa plus belle contrée. Ce nom revient donc à celui de joyau de la terre, qui est parfois donné à la Palestine. Géographiquement parlant, ce pays occupait une position assez centrale, puisqu'il était situé au point de rencontre des trois continents que comprenait l'ancien monde.
