Je veux descendre. Ce mot ne doit pas se prendre ici dans le même sens que 11.5, 7 (descendre du ciel). Il s'agit de descendre de la montagne dans la plaine où sont les villes criminelles.

Arrivé au comble. L'Eternel punit quand la mesure déborde, c'est-à-dire quand il n'y a plus d'espoir d'amélioration. Comparez 15.16.

Ou si cela n'est pas... Dieu veut éviter toute apparence de partialité ou de précipitation ; se soumettant aux règles de la procédure humaine, il consent à faire une enquête pour constater le crime. Cette enquête aura lieu par le fait même de l'entrée de ses deux envoyés dans Sodome et de la conduite des habitants de la ville à leur égard.
